The frightening rise of artificial intelligence has just become even more terrifying. The current situation in the tech industry is peculiar, in that mountains are being moved (almost literally, considering the environmental damage) to ensure that all innovations have a chance to function, improve and grow, but a point of no return has been reached. No matter what is sacrificed, it will still not be enough.

In a recent interview with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that the main problem in the artificial intelligence sector is not an excess supply of computing power, but rather a lack of power to support all the necessary GPUs. The company has countless AI GPUs in stock, but does not have enough power to connect them.

Sadly, the whole situation is not surprising. Consumers' energy bills in the United States have already seen a skyrocketing increase, the natural areas surrounding data centres have already been deprived of their resources, and now OpenAI has even called on the government to build 100 gigawatts of electricity per year, arguing that it is a strategic resource in the race for US supremacy in the competition with China in the field of AI.
