Sadly, following the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, this tool has been increasingly misused to generate nude images and, more specifically, to “artificially undress” subjects appearing in any visual material fed into it. In order to combat the shameful use of a resource that boasts far more noble potential, an image classifier capable of detecting nudity in an image has been created.

The latter has been trained using content from NudeNet, a dataset containing 700,000 images collected from the Internet. However, according to recent research by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P), the latter contains several images depicting child pornography.

The mere possession of the material would automatically be classified as a crime, even though users are probably unaware of the presence of such content in the dataset.
