OpenAI will allow verified adults to use ChatGPT to generate erotic content

Recently, artificial intelligence giant OpenAI announced the addition of a new feature to ChatGPT, one of the most popular and widely used chatbots in the world today. The new version of the latter will be based on a principle recently introduced by the company, encapsulated in the slogan “treat adult users like adults” and, as a result, will implement new aspects of AI usage for those who have a verified “adult” account.

From December 2025, those with this type of account will be able to ask the chatbot to generate erotic content. OpenAI has not yet shared any details on age verification methods or additional security measures specifically for this type of material, but it is hoped that the company will identify effective methods to protect non-adult accounts from this feature and the resulting content.

Following several unfortunate incidents concerning users' mental health and interactions between the chatbot and younger users, the company has stated that it wants to “get this right, given the seriousness of the issue”.
