As already highlighted in several articles shared here in the newsroom, the use of artificial intelligence within the legal sector is reaching levels that are nothing short of shameful. Recently, several solicitors have shared their experiences with the technology, explaining the reasons behind their use of it and justifying themselves by citing lack of time, illness and, above all, the inexperience of their assistants.

According to a series of court documents filed earlier this month, a lawyer involved in a commercial case before the Supreme Court of New York allegedly used artificial intelligence in the process of writing official documents for the case and was subsequently discovered. Following a reprimand for its use, the attorney allegedly used the technology again in drafting the documentation necessary to explain his decision.

The implementation of artificial intelligence within the aforementioned context should never have happened. Unregulated technology in such a sensitive sector can only cause damage, as it has done so many times before.
