Recently, the independent news outlet 404 Media, owner of today's featured article and several other texts shared in the past, filed a lawsuit against the US federal agency ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, part of the Department of Homeland Security.

ICE is responsible for border security and immigration control and, according to current reports, is significantly tightening its actions, arresting and deporting even individuals in possession of the necessary documentation, children, and real people who pose no threat to anyone. This organization has been in the news for some time now, but what may once have been a simple warning has now turned into a plea.

Following a series of investigations into ICE's actions, 404 Media requested in 2024 that the agency disclose its $2 million contract with Paragon, a company that produces powerful spyware capable of remotely hacking phones without the target having to interact with any links. ICE never complied with the request, leading to the lawsuit.
