The Sacramento Music Archive, a nonprofit organization born out of the personal passion of the 57-year-old Shayne Stacy, now plays a key role in protecting and preserving the music scene of California's capital. Having spent years of his adolescence immortalizing countless concerts and performances held around the city, Stacy now has a collection of around 20,000 tapes containing entire shows.
Stacy's passion for the concert scene of the 1980s and 1990s kept him busy for years, with a different event to film every weekend. Unfortunately, his work was soon misused, counterfeited, and used for profit by others; this lack of respect for his efforts led him to walk away from this activity for ten years.
YouTube, however, gave him hope again. Several fans were able to see videos of long-forgotten shows, and his work attracted more and more attention, leading to the founding of the Sacramento Music Archive, currently dedicated to digitizing the various content recorded at the time.
