The British multinational Marks & Spencer has recently been the victim of several hacker attacks, which began in April and were suspended in July following the arrest of four people involved in the breaches by the National Crime Agency (NCA). In the second week of this month, three young men aged between 17 and 19 and a 20-year-old woman were arrested on charges of violating the law on computer misuse, money laundering, and participating in the activities of an organised crime group.
The discovery of four culprits does not mean that the problem has been solved, which is why the NCA has stated that it will continue to investigate the matter, also collaborating with colleagues overseas, to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
According to the victims involved, the attacks may have been an attempt to completely destroy the entire business, as the damage caused to date amounts to approximately £300 million, and some of the IT services will not be usable until October/November.
