“Be curious about artificial intelligence!” Reads a memo recently shared by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy to the company's employees. Accompanying this suggestion, the man also points out that as a result of the implementation of this technology, the company's workforce will undergo a significant reduction in the years to come.
According to Jassy, this reduction in Amazon's workforce will be thanks to the long-awaited “efficiency improvements” brought by artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, he added that he anticipates that there will be fewer people doing the current work, yes, but there will be a need for more people doing new work, roles that are not yet well defined.
According to Andy Jassy, artificial intelligence within Amazon will fill any kind of task, in any “corner of the company,” going, however, to fuel the inexorable growth of unemployment in the tech sector caused by the implementation of this technology.
