In early 2025, Meta launched Meta AI, its artificial intelligence platform that can be accessed through any account of the company's services: Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp. Within this service, there is a section called “Discover AI,” designed to share what users ask artificial intelligence, so as to inspire others to conduct their own searches.
What is not particularly clear, however, is that the prompts sent, searches, and requests made are directly visible to any other user on the platform, as well as being clearly linkable to the original user's identity. The same fate is also reserved for messages exchanged with AI; it is not uncommon to come across entire chats between the user and artificial intelligence, often containing sensitive topics.
Although a warning appears before any post is shared, it seems quite clear that users of the platform have not understood how the Discover AI section works, considering the controversial searches currently shared on Meta AI.
