According to Bloomberg in a June 1 article, three of the world's most celebrated record labels are currently reportedly seeking licensing rights from the Suno and Udio platforms. Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment are currently in negotiations with the two mentioned AI music generators, in addition to also demanding a small portion of the shares of the two mentioned names.

A year after the copyright infringement complaint made against the two platforms, it seems that the labels in question are taking a different path. According to some unnamed sources, any kind of settlement could help resolve the ongoing lawsuits between the two parties.

The complaint at the time pointed out that Udio and Suno were using copyrighted material as content to “feed” to their models so that they could generate something new. The same method is currently applied in most AI systems, which is why active copyright infringement lawsuits nowadays are particularly common.
