As a result of the recent “manga purge” that has taken place in the vast world of the Internet, several fans have been left without services through which to keep up to date with the latest chapters released. The removal of more than 700 titles from popular sites has undoubtedly affected the Japanese comics landscape, leaving fans without an online reference point.
Orange Inc., a U.S.-based startup aimed at “creating a world where everyone can enjoy manga,” recently announced the release of a new application. It is called Emaqi and is currently available for download from the IOS App Store and the Google Play Store within the United States and Canada. The platform already contains more than 13,000 volumes, with more on the way - it also offers 50 exclusive titles.
The app uses a per-title payment model, through in-app purchases to be finalized in the mobile system's App Store. A variety of free content is available, as well as the ability to read some usually paid-for chapters without cost, thanks to a countdown that unlocks a chapter every 23 hours.
