Yesterday, April 28, 2025, shortly after noon, a power outage affected the entire Iberian Peninsula, including a reduced area of southern France, leaving millions of people in Spain and Portugal without electricity. The sudden outage affected several sectors within the countries, creating major disruptions in transportation - closed subways and canceled flights at airports.

It was feared that the blackout was caused by a large-scale hacker attack. Initially, the hypothesis was investigated by a Spanish intelligence agency, the CNN (Centro Cryptológico Nacional). Within an hour, the same entity, however, in Portugal, continued the investigation initiated by its neighbors, reporting that, at the moment, there did not seem to be enough evidence to state what was hypothesized.

The people of the entire geographical area appeared to be temporarily disconnected from the rest of the world.
