According to a recent report by a researcher at SentinelOne, a US company specializing in cybersecurity, a new trend is spreading in the online scam landscape. Several scammers appear to be using AkiraBot, a program whose main task is to fill the comment sections and chats of websites with artificially generated messages to flood the online space with spam.

The report compiled by SentinelOne explains how this strategy works, highlighting how AkiraBot is able to bypass various CAPTCHA systems and similar detection techniques. The company's research found that the bot had targeted nearly 450,000 domains, managing to flood 80,000 of them with spam messages.

The content of the messages shared always revolves around an insistent invitation to sign up for an SEO program that, for the modest sum of $30 per month, promises to “charm” Google's algorithms to allow the user's site to reach the first page.
