During the last week of February, a “silent album” was released as a protest against the British government's planned changes to the Copyright Act. According to the artists involved, whose number is around 1,000, the proposed changes to this law would make it easier for companies specializing in artificial intelligence to steal their content.
Misuse of copyrighted materials is not exactly new; this practice has spread rapidly following the advent of AI, due to the endless need for content to be “fed” to the models of this technology, which is always looking for methodologies to improve and update itself according to the latest demands.
The album released is entitled “Is This What We Want?” and is presented as an attempt to draw attention to the potential impact of the planned changes on the law in question and on the British music industry in general.
