We recently shared an article published by the online news outlet 404 Media, which announced the start of an investigation regarding a series of low-quality content generated by artificial intelligence and proposed as potential reading material within Hoopla's service. Today's reference article is intended as an update on the matter.

As a result of the investigation undertaken and subsequently published by 404Media, the service that provides ebooks to most U.S. public libraries, called Hoopla, has announced that it will change its methodology and make efforts to prevent the spread of artificially generated junk "novels".

It is not yet clear what changes the company will implement to achieve this goal; however, several U.S. state librarians were contacted by Hoopla during February to share a variety of information about the project.
