Should art generated by artificial intelligence be eligible for copyright protection? In recent years, this topic has often been discussed, leading to various clashes of opinion and ideological conflicts - according to those directly involved, the artists whose lives are based on the valorisation of their work, art is not art if it is artificially generated.
In a report on the relationship between some recent political events and this valuable technology, the US Copyright Office issued a set of guidelines on this issue - explicitly specifying that content generated solely by artificial intelligence is not eligible for protection under copyright law.
However, the use of this resource to assist the creative process of the human artist does not necessarily preclude the work's eligibility for copyright protection - it is therefore concluded that using AI as a starting point, or possible reference, is permissible.
