Law enforcement agencies from all over the world are increasingly approaching the use of artificial intelligence within their personnel, implementing it as a tool to speed up investigations and to be able to achieve summarily satisfactory results within a short period of time.

The Australian Federal Police has recently started to rely on this growing technology to be able to more efficiently analyse the huge amounts of data they collect on a daily basis.

The AFP's Head of Technology and Data Strategy, Benjamin Lamont, briefly explained the reason for the growing need to implement AI: receiving an average of 40 terabytes per year, including material from the 58,000 reports made to their Child Exploitation Centre and cyber incidents reported on a six-minute basis, it is inevitable that they would need to turn to a tool that can analyse data and deliver results quickly.
