Over the last few months, several large companies have been victims of elaborate cyber attacks, aimed at undermining the defences of these famous names and stealing as much valuable data as possible. The result of most of these cyber attacks was, fortunately, rather unsatisfactory for the attackers, who were often left with nothing of particular value.

During the first week of October, the website of the LEGO giant was manipulated by anonymous hackers, who placed a banner on the homepage, hidden under an actual advertisement by the company. Users who, interested in the advertised LEGO Fortnite collaboration, clicked on the banner and were directed to a fraudulent website.

The scam in question remained online for 75 minutes before being promptly removed. The intent of the latter was to promote, in turn, a fake cryptocurrency: the LEGO coin.
