Bungie, the US company that owns famous video game series such as Destiny and Halo, was recently sued for copyright infringement. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on 2 October 2024 by Kelsey Martineau, a writer from the state.

According to the indictment, the company allegedly plagiarised Martineau's original work when writing the plot of the ‘Red War’ campaign within Destiny 2. The characters, story and ideas reported by the writer in his own blog back in 2013-2014 were allegedly ‘directly copied’ by the company.

What written by Caspar Cole, a pseudonym used by Martineau at the time of writing the blog, tells a story quite similar to the plot experienced by the players within the game - the origins and motivations of the latter's antagonist, moreover, almost perfectly mirror those devised for the villain present in Cole's narrative.
