It is not unusual to discover that one of the leading companies in the technology sector, universally acknowledged as being responsible for the spread of AI chatbots, uses less than fair practices to train its artificial intelligence services. OpenAI cyclically returns to the spotlight, and this time it seems to have found a way to obtain third-party material to feed to its AI tools.

Recently, the company signed a multi-year partnership with US publisher Condé Nast, whose prestige has resulted in publications such as Vogue, Wired and The Newyorker. Under the agreement, OpenAI's services, such as ChatGPT and SearchGPT (currently still a prototype), will be able to view and utilise content published by the publishing house's news titles.

The position of other media and information companies is completely opposite - The New York Times and Intercept, actually, have sued OpenAI for the unauthorised use of their articles. The lawsuit is currently pending.
