Neuralink, the famous American neurotechnology company founded by entrepreneur Elon Musk, has recently started testing its flagship product. After developing its own brain-computer interface that can be implanted inside patients' brain matter, the process of finding a subject willing to test the device has begun. The first test was started in January, but after a few months it was announced that the device seemed to have started to detach from the implantation zone - the situation was promptly resolved.
More than half a year after the first test, a second patient made themselves available for testing. The company's goal is to be able to provide support for individuals with spinal cord injuries; as the device appears to be able to enable the subject to use digital devices through the use of thought.
From what Musk stated in a recent podcast episode, the current test seems to be promising - out of 1024 electrodes used by Neuralink, 400 have perfectly matched to the patient's brain.
