Nowadays, no one is completely immune to the clever persuasion that artificial intelligence is able to deploy - not even security providers themselves, companies whose goal is to help their customers avoid falling into cyber traps.
KnowBe4, a platform dedicated to security training and phishing simulation aimed at raising awareness of cyber dangers, recently shared a rather unpleasant experience that happened to the company itself.
In a blog post, the company's founder revealed that the company had unwittingly hired a North Korean hacker who, after joining the team as a software engineer, attempted to upload malware into the company's network. The recruitment was carried out following the practices used in the past, only later it was discovered that the man was using a stolen identity and had used an AI-enhanced image as a photograph.
