What ensures you that your data is safe? What assures you that your e-mail address, password and username are private knowledge, reserved exclusively for you? The world of the Internet is a gold mine for those intent on living off the backs of others. Today's reference article tells how a security researcher stumbled across a hundred GB of data, extrapolated from Telegram's famous channels.

The platform in question is notoriously recognised as a private space in which to share information only with those who have access to the channels in question - this makes Telegram the favoured application for exchanging massive amounts of data. Hunt, the author of today's blog post, therefore took it upon himself to upload the data he received to the 'Have I Been Pwned' site, which was created specifically to allow users to find out if their data had been revealed due to breaches or similar attacks.

The data received consisted of several 'combolists': lists of email addresses, passwords and usernames used on several different websites. Hunt's investigation yielded rather interesting results - you can find the full article at the link below.
