What method can be used to understand whether a text has been generated by an artificial intelligence? Unfortunately, there is no foolproof methodology, but identifying the phrase 'as of my last knowledge update' could be a rather significant answer.

The phrase mentioned was found within 115 articles published in academic journals, thanks to Google Scholar - a free tool capable of indexing such texts. In one case, the artificial intelligence behind the articles even specified the month of its last update: September 2021.

The journals that host this type of article do not boast a particularly noteworthy reputation: they belong to a rather frowned upon category of publication, as they promise to accept any article in less than two days, and publish it in four. Their reputation is not the best and they are considered unreliable by the scientific community.
