The rapid development of artificial intelligence is not limited to specific fields; nowadays, this technology is implemented and used within any environment - whether users are aware of it or not seems to be optional, most of the time.

Researchers at Amazon Web Services AI recently discovered that more than half of the sentences on the web have already been translated into two or more languages, often with rather poor results due to low-quality machine translation. This realisation highlighted a number of concerns about the training of large language models.

More specifically, the languages mentioned within the article belong to the African continent and the global south; being resource-poor languages, machine translation seems not to have been 'trained' enough to provide a suitable result.
