Following Sam Altman's recent departure from the company, OpenAi was apparently left without an official executive director. The situation was tentatively resolved within a short time; within two days the position was temporarily filled by interim CEO Emmett Shear, co-founder of Twitch and famous tech entrepreneur.

Shear is a self-described artificial intelligence fatalist, having repeatedly railed against the vision of unlimited development of this technology championed by powerful figures in Silicon Valley - furthermore, he has repeatedly stressed his desire to slow down AI development.

The situation is particularly complex and still developing; some employees have signed a letter stating that they will resign and go to work for Microsoft unless the board resigns and rehires Altman and his lieutenant Greg Brockman.
