Until a few years ago, no one would have imagined such a title. Now, it is almost a daily occurrance. Meta, the giant behind Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, recently announced that from 2024 all ads related to politics, elections or social issues will have to declare any digitally altered images or videos.

More specifically, the requirement includes any kind of content, whether written, via video or image. In the case of artificially altering what was said during a shoot, or the circumstances under which a photograph was taken, the alteration will have to be mentioned so that users can be aware of it.

In addition, the same requirement mentioned above will be added to the existing rules regarding deepfakes. What said will apply to all platforms owned by Meta.
