During the first weekend of November, Chinese startup 01.AI won the title of rising star with the release of its open-source AI model "Yi-34B." This artificial intelligence seems to be so advanced that it surpasses Facebook giant Meta's recent Llama 2 model.

The owner of the start-up is CEO Kai Fu-Lee, the former head of Google China and co-chair of the World Economic Forum's Council on Artificial Intelligence. Lee said he founded 01.AI in March, hiring more than 100 employees within a short time, all from multinationals and Chinese companies. The start-up began operations during June, releasing the mentioned model as early as early November.

The CEO recently said that although China still lags behind the United States in terms of the technology in question, he has no doubt that his nation is capable of creating better applications than American developers, thanks to the country's "phenomenal mobile Internet ecosystem."
