On September 19, 2023, an article on the neuralink.com website announced that applications to participate in Elon Musk's latest controversial project were officially open. More specifically, the blog post mentioned how they had opened recruitment for the first human clinical trial.

The project, called PRIME (Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface), will offer brain implants to paralyzed patients, and trials will be conducted to evaluate the safety and functionality of the implant.

The process involves, in essence, inserting a chip inside the part of the brain that controls movement; the chip will record and send brain signals to an application, with the goal of providing people with the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using only their thoughts. The input operation, moreover, will be carried out by a robot.
