The two writers Mona Awad and Paul Tremblay recently stepped into the spotlight, exposing themselves to sue the famous company OpenAi following suspicions concerning its ChatGPT model. More precisely, the two authors claim that their books, legally protected by copyright, were used to train the aforementioned AI, as the chatbot generated 'very accurate summaries' of the works in question.

This situation is rumoured to be the first case against ChatGPT that fully involves copyright, so it is undeniable that it will explore the uncertain 'boundaries of legality' of the actions of the generative AI.

This case will rely on the judgement of the courts, specifically on how they view the use of copyrighted material in this case: 'fair use' or unauthorised copying?
