Marvel's latest series, "Secret Invasion," debuted a few days ago on the Disney+ streaming platform, sparking a series of controversies following the confirmation of the use of artificial intelligence for the introductory sequence.
Ali Selim, director of the series in question, admitted that he did not know exactly how the process of creating the opening credits worked, claiming that "the system received ideas, themes, and words, and then went off and did something."
The use of AI technology by Marvel, a multi-billion dollar studio, was not a particularly thoughtful idea. Especially since this particular opening sequence is likely to be seen by millions of viewers, and the impression conveyed is that of yet another company that would rather spend less and use an AI, rather than give job opportunities to flesh-and-blood artists.
