EU Commission: against fake news we need "labels" on AI content.

European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova called on online platforms to add labels to text, photos and other AI-generated content, following a statement regarding the potential of this new technology to bring forth new challenges in the fight against disinformation.

Naming just a few of the prominent companies in the field, the vice president then called on Google, Meta, Microsoft and TikTok to work to prevent malicious actors from generating disinformation within their platforms.

Similar voluntary commitments will become legal obligations in late August under the EU's Digital Services Act, which will force the largest tech companies to better police their platforms to protect users from hate speech, misinformation and other harmful material.
