Moderators of Stack Overflow, a popular forum for software developers to ask and answer questions of all kinds, run by Stack Exchange, are on strike following the announcement of a new company policy. The latter would claim that all GPT-generated content would now be allowed on the site, and that suspensions for AI-generated content should cease immediately.
The harm that could result, given the frequent inaccuracies of chatbot information, would be considerable. This policy would tacitly allow the proliferation of incorrect information.
The strike is the first major action against ChatGPT content invading online sites. The moderators demand that the AI policy be withdrawn and revised, that an apology be issued, and that the company 'stop being dishonest' about its relationship with the community.
