Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI has stated that he has no plans to leave Europe. The head of the company behind ChatGPT backed down from his threat earlier this week to leave the block if it becomes too difficult to comply with upcoming artificial intelligence laws.

The planned EU legislation could be the first to legislate on AI, which according to the tech executive is 'over-regulated'. More specifically, the proposed law could require AI companies to disclose what copyrighted material was used to train their systems to generate text and images.

Altman fears that it would be technically impossible for OpenAI to comply with some of the security and transparency requirements of the AI Act.
