Big Tech is already warning us about AI privacy problems

The Wall Street Journal recently reported on the restrictions imposed by the giant Apple on the use of ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot service. Big companies are finally taking steps to inform consumers of the potential risks of using artificial intelligence of any kind. Samsung, Verizon, and most of the big banks have recently joined this development.

The fear of possible leaks is not unfounded: in March, a ChatGPT bug leaked the private data of some users. To be precise, it cannot be said that the service did not inform about potential data leaks, which does not make the situation any less worrying. ChatGPT's privacy policy explicitly states that users' messages can be used to train its models, unless they object.

It is possible that these big, privacy-conscious companies are just being paranoid and that there is nothing to worry about, but let's assume they are right. If they are blocking, or limiting, the use of artificial intelligence, there might be a good reason to convince users to do the same.
