StableStudio is Stability AI’s latest commitment to open-source AI

StabiltyAI will soon release an open-source version of Dreamstudio, a commercial interface for the company's AI image generator model, better known as 'Stable Diffusion'. Recently, the company pointed out that the new version marks a new chapter for the platform and demonstrates its commitment to the advancement of open-source development.

Open-source can only bring benefits to the company, as it allows different minds to work on and further develop a product that is already in great use, albeit very complex. Indeed, the company explained how "from enabling local-first development to experimenting with a new plugin system, we have tried to make things extensible for external developers."

It is nothing new that StabilityAI provides open-source programmes to its community, as evidenced by the various previous versions of Stable Diffusion, which are permanently free for download and modification.
