Reproducing cultural heritage at the time of NFT

Rome, July 2022, The Tribunal makes an order on an NFT dispute. The producer of the work in question had obtained permission to reproduce Bobo Vieri's portrait, but not Juventus' permission to reproduce the marks on the jersey worn by the subject in the NFT-transformed photograph.

As it may seem, Italy is not as 'outdated' as one would expect. The position of the Italian State in the context of the protection of cultural assets is extremely clear and in line with the mission of 'digitisation, innovation, competitiveness, culture', aimed at identifying the main strategic lines needed to protect Italy's cultural heritage represented by images, digital or otherwise.
