For two years now, the European Commission has been working on a law dedicated to regulating the emergence of Artificial Intelligence, and now more than ever there is a strong need to establish clear and precise rules. On 27 April, an agreement was finally reached in Stockholm; this could pave the way for the first comprehensive laws within the world regulating the technology in question.
Companies using generative AI, such as ChatGPT, will be forced to highlight any copyrighted material used to develop their systems.
Some members of the committee had initially proposed a complete ban on the use of copyrighted material for AI training, but the proposal was shelved in favour of a call for transparency.
