In August 2022, Roblox filed a lawsuit against WowWee, a Hong Kong-based toy company. Recently, the federal judge dismissed most of the charges perpetrated, however ruling some statements as worthy of trial.

The subject of the situation is represented by the line of dolls "My Avastars" which, according to Roblox, look suspiciously like the avatars that can be created through the platform. What's more, WowWee included with every $25-35 doll sale a special code that could be entered on the Roblox site to link the physical doll to a virtual account; calling the initiative "My Avastars: RP experience".

The situation is not completely clear, unfortunately, as it seems that the templates used by Roblox for the creation of the avatars were not protected by copyright at the time of production of the dolls in question.
