Towards the end of December, the messaging platform "Slack" was the victim of a cybersecurity incident - the company reassures, however, that sensitive user data and the primary code of the application have not been compromised. The issue essentially consists of a forced access to Github code repositories outside of Slack, via a limited number of employee tokens.
The whole operation was carried out in the last days of December, according to an internal investigation of the company. The latter also argues that the access was not the result of a vulnerability within Slack itself.
As a result of the situation, the company recently released a security update, specifying that it "takes users' security, privacy and transparency very seriously". Ironically, according to the article's source, Slack quickly moved to cover up the news of the breach.
